Yeshua in the Old Testament

I was eight when I became a Christian. I remember the day I asked Jesus into my heart at VBS at a United Methodist church in a town next to our home town. As an elementary student I prayed to Jesus, actually I prayed to Jesus for everything until about 3 1/2 years ago.

It was at that time I learned about the Father. I didn't know that Jesus actually said in the New Testament not to ask anything of him, but to ask the Father.
John 16:23 (KJV) 23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Wow. That was a huge revelation. So for a year or so I spent all of my time fellowshipping with the Father (Papa God as I affectionately call Him) After that year I started really yearning within my spirit as something was missing. It was then that the parable of the vine and branches started really resounding in my spirit.
John 15:1-8 (KJV) 1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

What I found was that I had been striving to remain with the Father apart from Jesus. …anyhow, again my heart was considering where does Jesus fit in with my faith, and what about my new found relationship with the Father?.
I’ve been chewing on this for a couple of years, in faith, walking with much love for my God. During the past year I've been drawn to the Hebrew origins of words. What an amazing journey this has been.

Just last night I was lying in bed considering some Hebrew words I’ve been looking at. This is one of the words for Lord in Hebrew;
Hebrew Strong's Number: 3068
Hebrew Word: ‏יהוה‎
Transliteration: yhwh
It’s also translated Jehova, it looks a lot like Yahweh to me! So, as I was laying there it struck me that it looks quite a bit like Yeshua! So I decided to look at that in the morning! J

First I’d like to share what ‏יהוה breaks down into with Hebrew Word Pictures. Hebrew reads from right to left, so I’ve found it helpful to list it top to bottom and break down the meaning of each letter.
Letter name, literal picture, symbolic meaning
י Yood or Yud, closed hand, to work/to make/ a deed done
ה Hey, Behold, The revelation of the heart of
ו Vav, Nail/Peg, joining together/ making secure/ becoming bound (nailed to)
ה Hey, Behold, at the end of word means What comes from.

So, when I read this I see:
What comes from the revelation of the heart of a deed done/the work of joining together and making secure.
This sounds like my Savior in person, revealed.

When I went online to look up how to spell Jesus or Yeshua in Hebrew I found this:
Hebrew Strong's Number: 3444
Hebrew Word: ‏יְשׁוּעָה‎
Transliteration: yeshû‘â
This is a combination of …. Drum roll please….
Hebrew Strong's Number: 3068
Hebrew Word: ‏יהוה‎
Transliteration: yhwh
And
Hebrew Strong's Number: 3467
Hebrew Word: ‏יָשַׁע‎
Transliteration: yāsha

I’ll let you look those up for fun.

What is amazing is that Yeshua is all over the Old Testament! That word יְשׁוּעָה or Hebrew Strongs 3444 is most often translated as Salvation.

This means that when Jesus came, and the Angel of the Lord told Mary that his name was to be Yeshua, anyone that knew Torah (the Old Testament) knew it meant Salvation!! Amazing.
Here is a list of scriptures with H3444 in them:
Ge 49:18, Ex 14:13, Ex 15:2, Dt 32:15, 1Sa 2:1, 1Sa 14:45, 2Sa 10:11, 2Sa 22:51, 1Ch 16:23, 2Ch 20:17, Job 13:16, Job 30:15, Ps 3:2, Ps 3:8, Ps 9:14, Ps 13:5, Ps 14:7, Ps 18:50, Ps 20:5, Ps 21:1, Ps 21:5, Ps 22:1, Ps 28:8, Ps 35:3, Ps 35:9, Ps 42:5, Ps 42:11, Ps 43:5, Ps 44:4, Ps 53:6, Ps 62:1, Ps 62:2, Ps 62:6, Ps 67:2, Ps 68:19, Ps 69:29, Ps 70:4, Ps 74:12, Ps 78:22, Ps 80:2, Ps 88:1, Ps 89:26, Ps 91:16, Ps 96:2, Ps 98:2, Ps 98:3, Ps 106:4, Ps 116:13, Ps 118:14, Ps 118:15, Ps 118:21, Ps 119:123, Ps 119:155, Ps 119:166, Ps 119:174, Ps 140:7, Ps 149:4, Isa 12:2, Isa 12:3, Isa 25:9, Isa 26:1, Isa 26:18, Isa 33:2, Isa 33:6, Isa 49:6, Isa 49:8, Isa 51:6, Isa 51:8, Isa 52:7, Isa 52:10, Isa 56:1, Isa 59:11, Isa 59:17, Isa 60:18, Isa 62:1, Jnh 2:9, Hab 3:8

I’d like to open up a couple of my favorites from the list. Then it’s time to call it a night.
Psalms 62:1-2 (KJV) 1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation (or Yeshua). 2 He only is my rock and my salvation (or Yeshua); he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
Psalms 78:22 (KJV) 22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation (or Yeshua):
Genesis 49:18 (KJV) 18 I have waited for thy salvation (or Yeshua), O LORD.
ooo and:
Psalms 20:5-9 (KJV) 5 We will rejoice in thy salvation (or Yeshua), and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. 6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9 Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

With some practice, I am hoping to get better at this blogging thing and be more able to bring a clear Word. Hope this is a blessing to others as it is to me! :D
